Throw tracking: Various enhancements

Hey!

I love the app, but I recently found some problems with the throw measuring feature. I’m specifically talking about the standalone field work-oriented menu option, not the map scoring feature.

I hadn’t used this in a while, so I have some new discs that aren’t on there. After measuring my throw, I started creating a disc. Unfortunately, I then forgot to save the throw. I then managed to accidentally erase it later.

I understand this was my fault. But, it turns out, you can’t manually create throws later on. And, while testing something, I created a short “test” throw. Then I proceeded to discover this throw is now permanently in my account, I can’t delete it.

I would like to suggest a few enhancements to the throw feature, so I don’t have to leave to some other app to track my throws properly:

  1. The ability to manually create throws after the fact, either on a map or even just without any location data at all. This would also help people with rangefinders, for example.
  2. The ability to delete throws, so that they don’t affect the average. If this feature exists, I wasn’t able to find it where one would expect (in the same menu where you can edit the throw).
  3. The ability to edit the distance of existing throws (or the timestamp of a manually recorded throw, so it matches the actual throw made earlier)

I really believe that these changes would improve the usefulness of throw measurement, bringing UDisc closer to an all-in-one disc golf app. I hope they can fit onto your roadmap.

Thank you so much for these thoughtful suggestions! We will take your feedback under consideration when we start working on improvements to the Measure Throw functionality, and we’ll keep you posted on any major updates. Our team isn’t actively building this yet, but we really appreciate your sharing these ideas that could make UDisc even better!

To delete a throw on Android, go to the You tab of the app (under the “Progress” section) and then hit “throws measured” underneath your Rating history graph. Do a long tap on any throws that need deleting, and then hit the trash can icon in the upper-right. I hope this helps!
