Map Scoring & Garmin Watch?

Is the Map Scoring feature only available from the mobile app or is there a way to use it from the Garmin watch app? It looks to me like the watch only lets you enter scores and not track each individual shot but I wanted to make sure I’m not missing something. When a watch is connected, does the phone app use the phone GPS or the watch GPS? Thanks!
