In Garmin watch you are able to record only the result. It would be nice to be able record the special statistics.
Or even better would be able to walk to disc after a throw and then by clicking the watch app the throw to map.
Hi Timo! As a watch scorer myself I would love an option like this. Though it isn’t on our near-term roadmap, we do hope to include some improvements to the watch in the future.
Would be great to have the Watch follow the completed holes on App. Now when I complete holes on App, the Watch stays on the 1st hole.
Hey Arto, thanks for this feedback. Though that isn’t possible right now, it could be down the road. We do hope to make some improvements to the watch functionalities in the future. I will be sure this feedback gets passed along!
After working great for months, the UDisc app no longer works correctly with Garmin Connect (as of early July). Watch scoring works, but when I finalize a round on my phone, that is the end of it as far as Garmin Connect is concerned. No saved activity, steps or other other data saved to Garmin Connect. There was an intermediate time where finishing a round would cause a big “IQ” to display on the watch which seemed to be hard to get rid of. This is with a Garmin Vivoactive 4 watch and a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra phone.
Hey @uplink,
Sorry you’re running into this. This might sound obvious, but have you uninstalled, reinstalled Garmin Connect? It might also be worth a fresh install of the app if you haven’t done this already.
If you’re still running into issues, can you send any screenshots or recordings along to us at help@udisc.com? Happy to help more there!
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the uDisc app on the phone. Didn’t fix. Just now I uninstalled and reinstalled uDisc on the watch. Then, I did a simulation round, and was asked when the round should be recorded in Garmin Connect (always, this time, never). After selecting always, it seemed to work, so I believe it is fixed now.
@uplink so sorry I didn’t respond sooner here, but very glad you were able to get this fixed! If you ever run into any other issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at help@udisc.com.
Just adding to this stream - it sounds funny, but the UDisc integration was the entire reason I got a Garmin watch as opposed to any other smart watch, so this is a BIG deal for some of us.
A couple ideas for the Garmin integration:
- I agree, I’d LOVE if I could record each throw from the watch (marking the distance and maybe even the placement of each throw) - but that would only really work if you’re scoring for just yourself (not a group of 5 people)… which leads to the next suggestion:
- Allow you to choose if you’re just keeping your own score vs. tracking everyone on the card. I’ve gotten to the point where I just don’t use the Garmin if we have 5+ people on a card - way too cumbersome. So I would LOVE if you could choose to just track your own score instead of everyone on a card.
- And that leads to the next request - any possible way to reduce the number of “clicks” when updating scores would be amazing. eg. if it just assumed everyone got par on a hole (without clicking to edit) you could skip the players who don’t need adjusting…
- And now for a proper bug - I’ve noticed intermittently that the watch will “realize” the player order has changed while I’m entering scores… and that messes things up a fair bit (I’ll have to enter some people twice, or accidentally approve the wrong score for someone because I didn’t see it switch). Ideally the ONLY time player order should change on the watch is when you click to proceed to the next hole; never change it while I’m viewing/editing scores on a hole…
Having said all that, I still LOVE the Garmin integration. I use it almost every game, LOVE the health tracking features, and LOVE that I don’t have to take my phone out of my pocket. It’s great.
So please keep building on this feature set!!
Thanks for your thoughtful feedback here, Greg! Some good ideas that are being considered for potential future development efforts, and our team will keep you in the loop on any updates in that regard.
If you’re the only player keeping score then you can set up the scorecard as an Activity Round for the other players, and scoring for you only: How to track an activity round of disc golf on UDisc : UDisc Support
As for the tee order changing unexpectedly while you’re entering scores, is that happening on your Fenix 7 Pro, and have you noticed any pattern related to the behavior? Any additional information you can provide to illustrate what you’re experiencing will help us to investigate and troubleshoot. Thank you!
Hi David,
Awesome - thanks for the reply!
- The one feature I spoke of is the idea that (especially in larger parties) your whole group can keep their scores (so not an activity round) - syncing with their own UDisc accounts; and the Garmin watch person being able to just track their own if they choose
- As for the bug - it’s a Fenix 5 Pro Solar. It’s hard to tell when it will rearrange players, but the issue hits when I’m entering scores. My only guess is that it chose that moment to sync with the phone and the phone told it a new player order… but I couldn’t say that for sure.
- Aaaand… that kinda leads to another feature request - the other players on the card only seem to see the scores I record with the watch sync over to their UDisc/Phone when I open my phone (eg. I could go 9+ holes of recording everyone’s scores and they won’t see it hit their UDisc on their phone). It would be nice to standardize when and how often scores are pushed live to UDisc so the other players on the card don’t need to wait till the end of the round when I pull my phone out.
- Oh - my phone is a Samsung S22
Thank you Greg! This is a neat idea and I could see how it would be a more distraction-free experience on the watch, but we don’t really have a mode for a scoring round that hides your cardmates at this point in time. It’s cool to hear that you’re able to use the watch integration but I’m a bit surprised to be honest because unfortunately, the Fenix 5 Pro Solar is not a supported device for UDisc. You can see the full list of supported devices here: Connect IQ Store | Watch Faces and Apps | Garmin
The watch not being actually supported is the most likely explanation for this buggy behavior you’ve mentioned. With a supported device, the scores should sync immediately when entered across other players’ phones, and the shuffling tee order should only occur when expected (upon changing holes). Sorry, I know this isn’t the answer you were hoping for, but we appreciate you bringing this experience to our team’s attention!
Apologies (typo) - I meant the Fenix 6 Pro Solar! So it should work?
All good Greg! Yes, the Fenix 6 Pro Solar should work. We have a handful of recommended best practices for troubleshooting in this guide, which I would encourage you to try at your convenience to see if that helps: Garmin Watch Troubleshooting : UDisc Support
For example, unpairing the watch and then freshly reinstalling may fix these quirks you’ve noticed in the watch app. We really appreciate your feedback here on what you’ve experienced and these ideas that could help to improve UDisc on the smartwatch!
Hi,
Love the app, I use it on every round for my scorecard. I’d love to see a way to enter stats with my watch for my throws while playing. Stats like, fairway hit, OB, C2,C1, C1X etc. At the moment I play the round and save the scorecard with my watch, and at home I edit the scorecard with my phone and add the stats. It would be very convenient to do it in realtime while playing.
Is that something that’s on the way or considerable?
Thanks for an amazing app, I love it even as is.
Best regards,
Henrik H.
Thanks for your thoughtful feedback, Henrik! Full stats scoring on the smartwatch has been somewhat popularly requested, and it’s on our radar for a potential future development effort. We will keep you in the loop on any major updates!
