Ok, I started the trial because I thought it would be better to track my scores from the watch than the phone. I see conflicting conversations about the apple watch app, and not much on android, so starting this thread.
What I hoped would happen:
I could use my watch to mark the gps spot on the app remotely without pulling out the phone.
What did happen, I could add / remove points, there was no basket indicator.
When I swiped and added throws, even with the switch holes it kept just adding points, and there didn’t seem to be any association with the holes. on the watch or in the app.
It seemed like the watch app wasn’t an interface for the phone app, but rather just a dummy counter.
Am I missing something? As is, the watch app is not useful at all. This was the only feature that interested me enough to try pro, as an fyi.
Hi Steve, Thank you for the feedback. You are correct in that there is not the ability to do full stats scoring on watches at this time. Perhaps in the future this will be something that is added. You can learn more about smartwatch functionality here and as always, if you have specific questions we are happy to help at help@udisc.com. Best, Team UDisc
Just a touch more information here. People that like to score on their watches are typically people that aren’t trying to score in full stat mode. The watch can be used to track your simple score, and to see the distance to pin as you play. This allows members to leave their phones locked and in their pocket.
But if you prefer to keep score using full stats, it’s definitely possible this is less useful for you. If you don’t need UDisc Pro for the other available benefits, we totally understand. Keep in mind, you can track unlimited rounds for free using UDisc.
And as mentioned, if you have other questions or need further assistance, you can reach out to us anytime!
I use a Garmin watch with my Samsung phone; sounds like its better at per-hole scores (even for everyone on the card) but still has gaps:
-it only syncs to the phone and everyone else once you unlock your phone
-it still can’t record individual shot placements as you go
-it sometimes reorders the players part way through entering scores (so you might miss one)
So… if you’re a true disc golf junkie watches are still “figuring things out”. Garmin is better than Apple, but still not perfect.
