Incomplete GPS Tracking

I’ve noticed this recently on several rounds - the GPS tracking is choppy or cut off. In some recent rounds, the GPS mapping seems to jump around, and skip some holes. I have a round on 2/26 that exemplifies what I’m seeing.

I take score on each teepad, lock my phone (iPhone 15 Max), place it in a bag pocket, play the hole and repeat. No other app usage, and my signal is generally good. Temperature on 2/26 was in the 40s.

Any troubleshooting tips? Or is this perhaps a known issue?

Hey @paulbrom thanks for reaching out here. Can you try a few of these troubleshooting options?

  • Reset Location & Privacy: This clears all app permissions and resets location defaults. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy.

  • Reset Network Settings: This can resolve connectivity-related GPS lag. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings (Note: This will delete saved Wi-Fi passwords).

  • Update iOS: Apple frequently releases patches for location-tracking bugs. Check for updates in Settings > General > Software Update.

If you try these and still run into issues in the next round, please reach out to us at help@udisc.com.

Thanks for the reply - I’ve reset my phone’s location settings and played a round yesterday with no GPS issues. I’ll try it out a few more times over the next week or so to confirm.

Thanks again!

That’s great to hear! If you do run into any other trouble, please reach out at help@udisc.com and we’ll dig into it further.

Probably a GPS issue rather than an app issue. Is it a woods course? GPS can be pretty inaccurate in the woods – off by 50’ or more.

After some experimentation, this issue occurs most frequently when splitting score-duty with other players, at a league for example.

The mapping works perfectly when I take out my phone to use it after every hole, but after several holes of inactivity, the mapping suffers.

Sorry for not responding here sooner! One thing to note here is that your phone may lose connection if you don’t open it again. If other people are scoring but you have opened your card at least once during the round, your phone will use your GPS location to create the map, not the scorekeepers. If your GPS connection is lost during the round, this could account for some gaps in the map. It you’re noticing this consistently it might worth pulling out your phone once during the middle of the round to re-open the card again.
