Hello! I’ve been using UDisc for nearly 5 years now and have really enjoyed using the Throw Tracker feature. It has enabled me to analyze my rounds after I finish to identify my weaknesses and improve as a player. I do have a suggestion for how to improve it.
We’ve all accidentally thrown our tee shot right into the ground or hit an early tree and still stayed in the fairway. Marking this lie as “fairway” doesn’t really do it justice because it boosts your Driving % statistic even though it wasn’t a good drive. However, marking the lie as “off the fairway” is also inaccurate because you do not have the associated challenges of being truthfully off the fairway (e.g. uneven ground, tall grass/plants, limited shot choices). On top of that, I don’t think scoring a par or better after a short drive should improve your Scramble % statistic (for the same reasons just stated).
My suggestion to remedy this to add “short” as a possible location for your disc to land for the tee shot. I have seen this statistic used in professional play and I feel it is useful. Recording a drive as “short” would count against your Driving % statistic, but would not automatically consider you to be scrambling. This would allow the Driving % statistic to only be improved on shots that landed reasonably far out in the fairway or within circle 1 or 2.
