I think it happened with the last update but I can no longer set my app to make everything a par 3 anymore. Kind of annoying because I have some local courses with really soft par 4s and 5s. Anyone else notice this?
Hi Ben,
Thanks for posting here! This setting was removed in 18.2.0. Most layouts are now Smart Layouts and give you the ability to change the par when played.
Have you tried this out yet? Let us know your thoughts!
Honestly I hate it. I now have to change the pars every time I play two of the courses around me.
Yes, I’m in the same boat. I play all the local courses par 3 since the par 4’s are not “up to par” in my book. So I used to use udisc setting to not play course pars.
Now everytime I play a local course, I have to go through and change the pars on 3-4 holes. And since I use my watch to score, I have to keep pulling out my phone. Or, at times I forget & wonder why my score seems low.
Ideally, you would be able to set by course whether to use course pars or par 3. Since I do have one local course I play the course pars.
Please bring some ability to do this. I like UDisc and have a pro membership, but to lose this ability AND have the price jump so much…not ideal.
Thanks
Hi Brian, Thanks for that feedback. While not the fix you are asking for directly what I can propose is to make all of the par updates before you begin scoring.
Once you’re in the scorecard, you can swipe over to any hole(s) for which you’ll need to change the par, and then tap on PAR in the upper-right. You can adjust the par directly within the scorecard, and then when you arrive at that hole, UDisc will remember which par you’re playing.
Appreciate your suggestion though and will make sure to document it in our running list so we can review the next time we are looking at new projects.
Best, BeckyKate
Hey Becky, so I’ve tried this technique. Of the 6 courses I play locally, 5 of the 6 everytime I play, I have to start a new round, scroll through the scorecard and set the pars manually to 3. It has really taken away from my pleasure of using the app. And I play those 5 courses most of the time.
Adding a setting by course that “Play at par 3” or even for all courses would be such a benefit - I have friends that are going through the same thing. This may seem to be a simple thing, but it feels like death by a thousand mosquitos. I’d rather have this than any other feature.
Thanks for considering.
Hey Brian,
Totally understand. This isn’t something we plan to update or improve currently but will keep this in mind for future updates. Appreciate your feedback around this!
I’ve never changed par on a hole, but I now may consider it because of all those 300+ foot holes that assume everyone can thrown 280…I can make them 4s instead of 3s! Woo hoo!
But, seriously, if I did that (or the reverse), won’t that affect the Udisc rating for a player’s score on the course. If I up par to 4 and 5 on every hole and shoot 5 under, would that give me an artificially high course grade or would that number still be based on the real par for the course?

The par has no impact on the UDisc rating. It’s determined by the total strokes taken to play each hole, rather than the relative strokes to par score.
Even if an ambassador changes the “official” par, ratings will not be impacted.
