An Idea for UDisc — From a Fellow Disc Golfer
Hey UDisc Team,
I’m a big fan of what you’ve built. I had an idea I wanted to share; just something I think could be a natural and valuable extension of your platform.
Core Concept: A Social “Disc Logbook” Inside UDisc
Disc golf isn’t just about the scores — it’s about the discs we throw, how they feel, and how they fly over time.
What if UDisc made it easy to:
-
Build and log your bag — like a “disc shelf” where players can add discs they own, used to own, or want to try
-
Track each disc’s wear state — fresh → lightly used → beat-in → flippy, and how that affects flight
-
Log disc performance — notes on how it flies in different wind or angle conditions
-
Explore real-world disc reviews — not just flight numbers, but feedback from players with similar skill levels or styles
-
Compare and share bags — see how your setup compares with friends, local players, or even pros
Bonus Ideas That Might Fit Naturally
-
Visual timeline of how a specific disc has changed over time
-
Throw-by-throw disc logging (e.g., “my beat-in Reko was fading early today in a headwind”)
-
Personalized disc recommendations based on your logged bag and throwing patterns
-
Tags for plastic types, mold runs, or unique notes (“flat top,” “extra domey,” etc.)
-
Bag history archive — so players can look back and see how their bag evolved season to season
Why This Might Be a Good Fit for UDisc
UDisc already leads the way in scoring, mapping, and stats. This idea adds a gear-focused, community-driven layer — one that reflects how disc golfers think: What’s in your bag? What are you trying? What’s working right now?
It could keep people engaged even when they’re not playing a round — when they’re building their bag, browsing discs, or sharing reviews with friends.
Also, if you could adapt the pdga scoring system that would be nice!
Thanks for reading — and thanks for all you’ve already built for the sport.
