Layout Difficulty

Trying to figure out some info

After how many played rounds and how many players will a layout be given a difficulty rating?

Thanks for reaching out Alex! It’s not exactly set as the same number for all courses and layouts, but the number of unique players scoring a round is the most important factor. You can learn more about layout difficulty in this related article: How does course and layout difficulty work on UDisc? : UDisc Support

Is there a particular course and layout that you’re wondering about? I’d be happy to check in on how close it might be to receiving a difficulty classification.

Hey david

Im looking at the RAF Lakenheath course

RAFL warm up lay out

Any info would be cool to see

Thanks Alex! It looks like there needs to be a greater number of unique players scoring a round on this layout for it to receive a difficulty classification (and start producing round ratings). If you tap through on the Map Manager page, then you’ll see that holes 4, 6, and 7 specifically are marked as having a “Low play count” which means they need more scoring data.

Hi Alex, thank you for your patience here! Our team is working on some updates for the layout difficulty math model now, which should be wrapping up pretty soon. We hope to have this update out in the next week or two, at which point you should see the difficulty classification and round ratings.

David, hello. Sorry to hijack the thread here, but I have a similar question. Can you look at Blessed Creeks at Northside? We have 429 rounds by 189 players and the difficulty is still pending with “low play count” on holes with 160+ plays. I feel like I’ve done something wrong. I appreciate you looking into this!

Hi David! The hole difficulty math model that powers round ratings may be a lower confidence at Blessed Creeks because the custom overridden hole distances vary widely in some cases from the GPS-calculated hole distances. For example, look at holes 2, 6, 12, and 13. I would recommend fine-tuning the locations for tee pads and/or targets on these holes to get the hole distance within a margin of error no greater than 10 meters compared to the custom distance. 📍Fine-tuning tee and target positions | UDisc Support

For have long do we have to wait to get layout difficulty, when we fixed smart layout?
As you see, i feel it should be ready soon with so many players and games playd.

Thanks for your thoughtful message, Stian! You’re right, BSF Frisbeegolfbane should start to receive a layout difficulty classification and produce round ratings very soon. Our team is working on some internal updates for this process, which will be wrapped up shortly. We really appreciate your patience, and we will be happy to follow-up once everything is ready!

Thanks for the info. I’ve removed the custom distances and had a good number of unique players and rounds played since, and still have low play count on every hole. I can’t help but think there is something wrong. Could you please look into Blessed Creeks at Northside again? Difficulty is still pending with low play counts after more than 500 rounds and over 200 unique players. Your help is appreciated.

@worm952 @hammer22 Blessed Creeks at Northside and RAF Lakenheath should be producing layout difficulty classifications and round ratings now. We appreciate your patience, cheers!

We were able to convert this layout to a Smart Layout, but it will need more unique plays as a Smart Layout in order to start producing round ratings. Also, the mapping for hole 1 may need to be adjusted for accuracy. If you’d like to apply to become a course ambassador then you can use the Map Manager page tools to map hole 1: Log in | UDisc
