As a player, it would be nice for UDisc to highlight any changes to the layout since last played.
Three areas where this could appear:
- Course Overview - Layouts section: one or two lines that shows only to people that have played before. Could say “last updated XX/XX/XXXX” or describe what has changed “Hole 14, 15 pins moved”, “Hole 14 moved to B pin”
- Round Setup - Choose Layout page: Similarly as small description if a change has been made
- Now Playing - Hole view: Somewhere on this page a little flag that says “Updated pin position”, “Pin moved to B location” with an updated date.
Why? Sometimes courses have multiple pin locations and it’s not always easy to see the pin from the tee. I’ve thrown countless times on blind holes (throwing to previous locations) only to find that the pin moved after I played the same course yesterday.
While this adds more work across the board, I know work and guidelines would need to be made for course ambassadors, I think this would be a great quality of life update especially for power users of UDisc and those that frequent courses.
This could also help UDisc utilize free-text descriptions of changes on the backend to further understand why layout changes were made that could bake into future tools for course ambassadors.
