I recently met up with a group of 15 regulars that I often throw with. I asked the group how many had a paid subscription for uDisc and I was the only one that raised my hand. Why doesn’t the uDisc basic free subscription enable them to have a place on the leaderboard on the courses they play? I would think it would help create more interest in the game if non-subscribers could see their place on leaderboard.
I can understand wanting to paywall that feature, but it makes the leaderboards less interesting/valuable for members if they aren’t representative. Maybe a compromise where non paying member scores are included, but their names are redacted?
We need that because I didnt pay many years on my udisc but I paid because wanted to see leaderboards but im sure 80% dont pay udisc so how you can be then have accurate leaderboards?
this is so real. very few people use UDisc in my area, and especially very few people pay for it, so the leaderboard is pretty much empty and pointless in my situation ![]()
What area are you from ?
Poland. Most people here use another app, and out of the few who use UDisc, most don’t have a subscription, so for example on Disc Golf w Parku im. R. Reagana - Gdańsk, Poland | UDisc Disc Golf Course Directory this leaves 3 users on the leaderboard this week, and 12 users this year, and it looks like ~8 of them are not locals. And the course is busy irl every day:D A shame really
Now that I took a closer look at the leaderboard, it doesn’t look attractive either way to be honest. It’s just a username, very small avatar and a number. I can’t check what scores on what holes they’ve had, I have no idea who they are (it’s just some usernames and not real names so I would have no idea how to find them on any communicator if I wanted to, also I can’t really see their faces as the avatar is 6 milimeters on my phone, there’s no PDGA number). And I can’t see what their scores look like on other days on this course.
So the leaderboards feature needs a lot of work to be fun imho ![]()
The other app that we use just gives you full round details on every round from the leaderboard, with their name and surname so you can hit them up on Facebook or somewhere, and if 8 best scores out of the top 10 on a course belong to one person, then they are listed 8 times in the leaderboard, which makes total sense to me.
But it sucks a lot in terms of UX and UI compared to UDisc, so under usual conditions I tell everyone to try UDisc, but in the case of leaderboard, this feature is kinda non-existent really ![]()
