Default names for tee/pin combinations

Following on to my previous topic, “more characters for hole names”, it useful feature for the map-manager would be the ability to name combinations of tee/pin for a hole.

You can already configure the default par for the combination, as well as overrides for the hole notes, having a default name could make it easy to configure a layout. Instead of:

  • providing a name
  • selecting a base-hole
  • picking the tee/pins
  • updating par
  • adding notes

you would:

  • select a base-hole
  • select a named combination (if there are any)
  • verify tee/pin selections (or select them if no named combo is selected)
  • verify/update par
  • verify/update notes

The wins here are around ease of use and consistency.

I was playing a layout yesterday and decided to throw from a different tee pad (a longer one, but still a par 3), so I updated the tee and played the hole. I know that the score card shows the new distance, but it would have been great if the name of the hole would have changed (if it found a matching tee/pin combination that was named)… so instead of the card saying that I played hole 20 at 327 (usually 271) it could have said that I played L20.
