I am getting ready to go to my town’s Rec Committee to try to get a back 9 added to our local course. Some of the members have been interested in this before, but they are unclear on what tree clearing might cost and how to design the course. One area is wooded. It is right next to an abandoned 9-hole golf course, which is perfect, but there are train tracks between the two areas. I’m looking for any advice or possible ideas for a Google slide show plugging the idea. Has anyone gone through this process before? Any idea how a pedestrian bridge over the tracks would go over?
My first post on this forum. Interesting read here.
I would think a bridge over the railroad tracks would be the biggest hurdle. It would likely require engineering and be quite costly. If the proposal could take the railroad tracks out of the equation it would be easier to stomach.
As far as the presentation. I would spend the time to walk the mapped out course and take pictures and indicate what trees and how many will need to be removed. Along with any brush / bush removal.
As they say pictures are worth a thousand words…they could be worth thousands of dollars in a budget for the new none. Good luck!
