Apple Watch app not recognizing finished partial round

I got tired and finished a round early, over a week ago. I have the UDisc phone app as a complication on my Apple Watch, so occasionally, I will hit that corner and the app would open. I noticed that it still thought I was on Hole 14. I ignored it until last night when I realized that it was draining my battery, and rebooted my Apple Watch.

If I didn’t have it as a complication, I would never have known it was UDisc draining the battery.

There needs to be some way for the Watch App to give up on a round that is finished early. Perhaps just a timer that asks the user “did you finish a partial round” after it has been more than an hour since the last score was entered, or just abandoning the round in the app and letting it reconnect if the user reopens the watch app.

After rebooting my watch, the battery lasted well overnight, but sometime during the day, the partial round re-activated on the watch.

I finally went into UDisc and deleted the round, and I think it might be OK now.

It should be pretty easy to test this by just entering data for a partial round.

Hey Anthony,

I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you here, and sorry to hear you are having issues. It sounds like it’s possible that you have encountered a bug. I will be sure to pass this information along so that we can dig into it a bit more. Thanks for reporting it and thanks for your patience.

I had this same problem. The solution was ending the round, but there was no indication of it on the watch.

I also encountered a problem when there were 2 rounds open. The watch didn’t know what to do and asked me to start a new round (would be 3 open rounds). I ended 1 round, and the second loaded fine.

Hey @awh142857,
When you say you finished the round early, did you actually complete the scorecard in the app? Or was the app still active? When you deleted the scorecard, was the round still ‘Live’? If so, it would explain this behavior. When you finish playing, the round needs to be completed on your phone, whether the round is partial or complete.

Thanks for your reply here Graham! It sounds as well like what you have experienced is the expected behavior. It is rare that anyone would have multiple live rounds on their device at the same time on purpose.

If there are any other questions here though, please let us know.

I hit “finish partial round” on my phone, so it was no longer live, but my watch was still thinking it was.

I checked it a couple times, but maybe not when the watch app was open also.

I had to ultimately delete the partial round to make the watch stop trying to score hole 14, but I didn’t do so for almost 2 weeks, and it definitely wasn’t live.

I guess someone could do a test where they purposefully start a round, score a few holes, then finish the partial round to see what happens. I wonder if maybe the watch app wasn’t active when the phone finished and never got the notification.

In any case, the watch app should probably give up on a round after a couple hours and only reactivate it with a positive request from the phone.

Anthony
