Unlock scorecards on pay-to-play courses only after fee is paid

Hi everyone,

I’d like to suggest a feature for pay-to-play courses:

It would be extremely helpful if UDisc only allowed scorecards to be started after the course fee has been paid via the app – or alternatively, if the player’s name is on a list managed by the course operator confirming payment.

Background: Many privately maintained or club-operated courses struggle with players skipping the required fee, even though it helps maintain and improve the course. Unfortunately, it’s common for people to start their round and use the scorecard feature without paying – sometimes by accident, but often intentionally.

A built-in check (e.g., app-based payment or manual confirmation by the course owner) would:

  • Support course operators
  • Encourage fair play among users
  • Help ensure the long-term quality and availability of well-maintained courses

I understand this might be technically challenging, especially for honor-system or public courses. But for clearly designated pay-to-play locations, this could be a major improvement.

Are there already ideas in the works for something like this?

Best regards,

That sure seems to be asking a lot of the course operator. Keeping a list accessible to you disk? Hmmm. As to the other option, you seem to think everyone uses phones to pay, which I very seldom do.

Thanks for your thoughtful message, Johny! This isn’t possible for casual play at this point in time; however, you can run a multi-day flex start format event and lock down the scorecard creation to league or event admins only. This also carries an added benefit of more competition with the built-in live event leaderboard. If you haven’t yet checked it out already, then I would encourage you to look into UDisc Leagues, which is totally free and can help you to more comprehensively track check-ins, rounds played, course records and other stats.
