My friends and I have been playing and scoring on uDisc for many years.
Several times per year, we head away on weekend events where we run personal competitions based on handicaps which keeps the fun for all involved.
I noticed that handicaps are now available for Leagues, however there are no Leagues in our area that use uDisc for scoring which means that none of us have a Competition rating.
Wondering if it might be possible to add handicaps using Everyday ratings to events for this purpose?
I’m guessing that there might be a lot of people who are looking for this solution if they only play with friends and want to have some inter-group events each year.
The other thought that crossed my mind in relation to Everyday Rating is that it would be great to be able to see a comparison of a single round against each player’s Everyday Rating in the Round Overview. Doing so would be a great way to see who “won the day” for casual rounds.
Here we could see that even though Player 1 had the best round score, we can see that Player 3 played the best in comparison to their Everyday Rating and effectively “won the day”.
Very cool idea, thank you for sharing JT! This has been requested a few times lately, and it’s something our team will consider for a potential future development effort. Right now, you can manually enter Starting Scores to build in handicaps for your casual rounds. Unlike league handicaps however, manually-entered Starting Scores will not update automatically, and they will not change dynamically over time: ⚖️ How can I change the starting hole and starting scores on a scorecard? | UDisc Support
Another option is to create a new league for you and your friends. It’s totally free in every sense of the word to run and participate in UDisc Leagues, so I would encourage you to check it out: Run your disc golf league, weekly, or event | UDisc
We have manually entered starting scores previously. The hard part is when we approach a new course which has a Smart Layout and want to derive a handicap based upon our Everyday Rating. For example, there’s no clear way to determine what starting score/handicap a 180 rated player should get.
But, I’ll definitely look at the creation of a league for personal use.
