On the app and web site, there are many filters for finding courses, several of which just don’t seem to do much. What WOULD be useful is to filter out “schedule before playing” courses. They aren’t considered limited hours, so they pop up on the map, tricking me into thinking there’s a course I can go play. I’ve never played, and plan never to play, a course where I have to call ahead of time.
But randy these courses are built with love of the game. They are some of the best you could possibly play. It also means there wont be over crowding. You should seriously give them a try.
I’m sure the creators of those courses are devoted to the hobby and proud of their courses, but I don’t plan days or weeks ahead. I look on uDisc to find a place nearby to play right now. So, calling ahead is out of the question. For that matter, “not available right now” (as in a tournament happening today) would be another great toggle to show only places you can drive up to right now and play.
Thanks for your thoughtful feedback, Randy! You can hit the filters icon in the upper-left of the Courses tab in-app, and then scroll down to your “View preferences” section. Toggle on “Hide limited access courses” which should effectively remove the courses that require you to contact the owner before playing. You can do this on the web too: Disc Golf Courses | UDisc
I hope this helps!
I have done that, but that leaves out a TON of school courses and church courses. Because those courses are not open all the time, they’re “limited access.” I’ve even seen municipal courses dedicated to disc golf show up as limited because they close at dusk.
So that filter causes more harm than good.
Gotcha, thank you for following up with this context, Randy! I will share this suggestion with the rest of our team for review, and we will keep you in the loop on any major developments. Cheers!
