I’ve noticed that while there is currently a feature for bag tag tracking, it feels limited in its functionality. As it stands, bag tag numbers can only be entered for specific events and are not saved or carried forward for future events. This makes it challenging to use the feature for tracking the ongoing status of tags within a league or to view current standings.
I’d love to suggest an enhancement to the bag tag tracking system by introducing a league dashboard. This dashboard could display the current status of all tags within a league and include the following features:
Persistent Tracking: Tag numbers could be saved and carried over across league events for an ongoing leaderboard.
Tag Updates: Tags would update after a scored round was completed in a UDisc League Event that requires verification by a league manager before final updates are reflected on the League tag leaderboard.
Last Update Timestamp: A timestamp (date only) showing the last update to a player’s tag standings could help everyone keep track of recent changes.
League Member Modifications: Sometimes tag rounds happen outside of League Events. Allow League Members to manually update tag numbers and submit for verification by a league manager before final updates are reflected on the League tag leaderboard.
I believe these improvements would add a lot of value for leagues by making it easier to track competition and keep members engaged. Thank you again for your hard work on this incredible app—I’m excited to hear your thoughts on this idea.
Thank you so much for this detailed feedback! This kind of more sophisticated bag tag tracking is something the UDisc has discussed in the past, and we can certainly see the value it would add to tag leagues. We aren’t building this yet, but we would consider creating a smart system for automatically tracking tags like you’ve described here (and we will keep you in the loop on any major developments in that regard). We really appreciate the time and thoughtfulness you’ve put into this feature request, and I will make sure that your ideas are added to our project notes, so we can reference these suggestions if and when we revisit this concept in the future.
Personally I love playing in my local tag league, but nobody sticks around after the round is completed, so the physical tags are an afterthought. UDisc handling tags all digitally would be a nice time-saver for the league admins, and would also give players the opportunity to head out immediately when they finish their round, eliminating the need to wait for tags to be dispersed. Thanks for writing in with these neat thoughts, and please don’t hesitate to let us know as any other questions, concerns, or ideas come up!
I get that for a lot of league events for regional clubs people typically don’t stick around to swap tags and honestly, this isn’t the primary use case I imagined. Instead, I thought this would be better used for those smaller rounds when its just a card or two of friends who all have the same tag(s) and play a casual competitive round.
I’m part of a couple groups ranging from 25 members to 250 members and think it’d be better suited for the smaller group of 25 (or 1-2 card subset of the larger 250 group).
Friendly competition among people you play with regularly is my favorite way to play. But this could be enhanced in the same way that keeping record your scores across time and courses has been enhanced in recent years! If you could keep track of who has the #1 tag currently among other stats like: longest streak holding the #1 tag, most rounds winning the #1 tag, frequency of holding the other numbered tags, etc. This doesn’t even have to be tied to a physical tag, it could be done digitally for new groups as well.
I see this as a huge incentive for smaller, local groups to subscribe to UDisc for this tracking among friends. It would build community for those who aren’t able to attend the typical club events. Plus it could be a financial boost for UDisc as I’d gladly opt in to paying another $5/year (per club?) to have this kind of record keeping.
I’m a million percent behind the added bag tag stuff. As a TD and someone who runs a few leagues, this would be great. Have the player enter in their tag at check in and let UDisc tell me who gets what and keeps track week to week. Would save me so much time at the end of the round and after I get home entering in to a spreadsheet.
